Quetzalroo was established in early 2010. It’s well kept and accommodating, and offers a variety of sleeping arrangements from single private rooms to mixed dormitories. There are several comfortable common areas including a dining room, lounge and rooftop terrace. Private accommodations include bath towels and semi-private bathrooms. All arrangements include breakfast. Shuttles to and from the airport are often available upon request.

The walls of Quetzalroo are covered with art produced by local artists. The owner and faculty are incredibly helpful in planning trips throughout the country, and have plenty of resources in terms of maps, transportation routes, information about area attractions and pre-planned trips, and lists of local events such as live music, art shows and more.

Quetzalroo works to support local art and culture in Guatemala City. They’re constantly current with local events and can easily help guests get familiarized with what the city has to offer. Several walking tours and bicycle tours are regularly scheduled to that effect, with destinations including award winning coffee shops, downtown commercial districts, museums and more.
