Salvador Gaviota is an oceanside hotel and restaurant in Livingston, Izabal that offers private rooms and bungalows. The hotel boasts one of the better groomed beaches in the area as well as plenty of shaded hammocks and a variety of local tours.
The hotel, restaurant and swimming beach can be reached from Livingston’s calle principal on foot (~45 min. to 1 hour) or by taxi (~15 minutes and Q15-Q30 depending on number of passengers).
Salvador Gaviota is a large property, most of which is set back from the beach front in a well gardened and maintained area with several bungalows and small buildings. All rooms and bungalows are constructed in a traditional style with lightweight wood exterior walls that keep rooms surprisingly cool and well ventilated. The oceanfront portion of the property has plenty of shaded seating (and sunbathing space) as well as a spacious palapa at the end of a long wooden dock.
Kayaks and canoes are available free of charge to hotel guests, and to restaurant guests or passersby at a moderate fee. Several tours can be arranged from the hotel via water taxi to locations such as Los Siete Altares, along the Río Dulce and Punta de Manabique among others.
